Eucalyptus globulus Labill.
Eucalyptus is an evergreen tree native to Australia and Tasmania. Its leaves contain glands with intensely fragrant essential oil.
Eucalyptus leaves and eucalyptus oil are traditionally used to treat colds and coughs. The main component of the essential oil is usually 1,8-cineole, also known as eucalyptol.

Young eucalyptus trees usually have roundish to oval, bluish-green leaves that are arranged oppositely. The leaves of older trees, on the other hand, are elongated, sickle-shaped, and often hang vertically from the branches.
The flowers have no conspicuous petals. Their appearance is characterized by numerous light-colored stamens. The flowers develop into firm, woody capsules.
In many eucalyptus species, the bark peels away from the trunk in long strips or plates.
